On Friday, Dec. 27, 1996, at 9:45 p.m., my friends and I were returning from viewing the beautiful Holiday Lights at Virginia Beach. We had stopped for the traffic light at Laskin and First Colonial roads when the car cut off. Traffic was heavy and horns were blowing.
To our amazement, two young men approached the car, offering assistance. They immediately pushed the car out of traffic and into a Texaco Station, which had no mechanic on duty. One young man procured jumper cables from his vehicle and started our car. He and his wife remained with us throughout our dilemma and followed us to our home to be sure of our safety.
We just wanted to express our appreciation to Mr. and Mrs. Danny Beltron, who were out on a heavily traveled night with errands of their own to do, for forgetting themselves and rescuing four grateful senior citizens. How refreshing to find out that there are still wonderful people in our chaotic world.
