BREAKFAST SPECIAL SUPERMARKET DEALS ON MORNING FARE HELP YOU GET A JUMP ON THE DAY

WE KNOW breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It gives our bodies the jump start they need. Get in gear with these breakfast specials:

Farmer Jack has 10-ounce boxes of Post Honeycomb cereal for 99 cents, 64-ounce cartons of Florida Natural orange juice for $1.34, 24-ounce light or regular Log Cabin syrup for $1.49, frozen 4.4- to 6.5-ounce packages of Swanson Great Starts at four for $5, and 1-gallon jugs of American Choice 1 percent milk for $1.99.

Farm Fresh has 15- to 16-ounce boxes of Cap'n Crunch Cereal for $2, 11.8- to 16.25-ounce boxes of Quaker instant oatmeal at three for $5 and 32-ounce jars of Welch's grape jam or jelly for $1.

Harris Teeter has 8-ounce containers of Dannon yogurt, ``buy one, get one free'' with VIC card.

These fruit and vegetable specials will help keep you healthy.

At Farm Fresh, pick up store brand 14.5- to 15-ounce cans of corn, sweet peas or green beans, five for $2, Florida star ruby grapefruit, four for $1, and Dole bananas, 3 pounds for $1.

California Hass avocados, a favorite variety for its creamy flesh and nutty flavor, are available just in time to make Super Bowl guacamole. Fresh, tender green beans are 69 cents a pound and D'anjou or Bosc pears are 59 cents a pound at Rack & Sack.

Farmer Jack has 20-pound bags of white potatoes for $1.88.

Fresh Express salad mixes and blends are ``buy one, get one free'' with VIC card and Red, golden and Rome Eastern apples are 79 cents a pound at Harris Teeter.

Temple oranges are eight for $1, and kiwi, four for $1 at Be-Lo.

A 32-ounce jar of Hellman's mayonnaise is $1.99, an 18-ounce jar of Skippy peanut butter is $1.39, and 48-ounce Mazola corn oil is $1.99 when you clip coupons from last Sunday's Be-Lo advertisement.

One-day sales are usually the domain of furniture and department stores, but on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Farm Fresh will hold a 12-hour meat sale for Gold Card holders. Dale Faunce, vice president of perishables for Farm Fresh, says the sale will include beef roasts, split chicken breasts, pork spare ribs, hams, bacon, shrimp and crab. If you don't have a Gold Card, you can get one as soon as you come in the door.

Chicken lovers can pick up these specials: Club pack fryer drumsticks or thighs are 68 cents a pound at Rack & Sack. Be-Lo has whole chickens for 79 cents a pound.

Boneless top round London broil is $1.68 a pound at Rack & Sack. Farmer Jack has center cut pork chops for $1.99 a pound and 1/4 pork loins for $1.58 a pound. Chuck steaks are $1.59 a pound and boneless chuck roast is $1.49 a pound at Be-Lo. Harris Teeter offers ground round for $1.99 a pound. ON THE SHELF

Pillsbury introduces Old El Paso One Skillet Mexican meals in three flavors: salsa, nacho cheese and taco. Preparation time is about 20 minutes, just add ground beef or chicken.

A (13.4- to 15-ounce) box contains 10 tortillas, Mexican-style sauce mix and rice, for a complete meal. Each package makes five ( 2/3-cup) servings.
