Ethel Phillips Lewin, 79, of Kirby Street and formerly of Suffolk, died Tuesday Jan. 14, 1997, in Portsmouth Naval Hospital.
Born in Nansemond County, Va., she was a member of First Baptist Church, Suffolk. She was also a past president of the Women's American Legion Auxiliary and a past member of the board of Patrick Henry Boys Plantation.
Survivors include two sisters, Carrie Lee Hopewell of Portsmouth, Nell Phillips McManus of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Lester N. Phillips of Chesapeake; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church, 237 N. Main St., Suffolk. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Suffolk.
