Ruth Lewis Miller, 91, of Westminster-Canterbury, died Jan. 13, 1997, in her residence.
A retired teacher of the Norfolk Public School System, she was a native of Portsmouth. She was the widow of Hugh Drummond Miller and a member of Ghent United Methodist Church, where she was formerly a very active member. She was the daughter of the late Salathiel Lewis and Hattie Hoggard Lewis.
Survivors include a grandson, Douglas Galloway of Allegheny N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Frank Hansford Miller Sr.; a nephew, Frank Hansford Miller Jr.; a niece, Mary Miller Bush. She was predeceased by two children, son, Hugh Drummond Miller Jr., and daughter, Courtney Miller Galloway.
A funeral will be held graveside in Elmwood Cemetery at 4 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. H. LeRoy Seibert. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive, is in charge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ghent United Methodist Church.
