Janie Askew Lassiter, 78, of the 200 block of Church St., died Jan. 13, 1997, in Halifax Memorial Hospital.
A homemaker, she was a native of Northampton County, N.C., and the widow of William Lee Lassiter. She was a member of Lasker Baptist Church, Lasker.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda L. Flythe of Lasker; four sons, Stony Lee Lassiter of Virginia Beach, Calvin L. Lassiter of Lasker, David E. Lassiter of Rich Square and Wray A. Lassiter of Roanoke Rapids; sister, Jeanette A. Johnson of Lasker; brother, Wilson Askew of Lasker; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Lasker Baptist Church, Lasker by the Rev. Charles Hulin. Burial will be in Lasker Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Brenda L. Flythe, Lasker. Memorial donations may be made to Lasker Baptist Church. Garrett Funeral Home, Rich Square, is in charge.
