Jerry N. Gilbert Sr., 69, of the 1600 block of Chesapeake Ave. died Jan. 13, 1997, in his residence.
A retired truck driver and a native of Mount Pleasant, Va., Mr. Gilbert was the widower of Lillian M. Gilbert.
Survivors include six daughters, Carol Mills of Chesapeake, Rosalie Delfenthal of Knotts Island, N.C., Bonnie Goodwin of Chesapeake, Jean Lawson of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., and Sandy Lehman and Peggy Heller, both of Chesapeake; three sons, Jerry Gilbert Jr. of Winchester, Rodger Gilbert of Salisbury, N.C., and Ray McAdams of Chesapeake; three sisters, Amy LaRoach of Virginia Beach, Annie Cox of Greenville, N.C., and Katie Lassiter of Portsmouth; brother, Robert Gilbert of Virginia Beach; 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Sallie Moore.
A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, by the Rev. J. Harold Bergey. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
