WALTER A. BIGGS

Walter A. Biggs, 86, formerly of Norfolk and Virginia Beach, died Jan. 13, 1997.

A retired Virginia Natural Gas employee, Mr. Biggs was the widower of Hazel B. Biggs and a member of First United Methodist Church, Norfolk. He was a member of Norfolk Masonic Lodge No. 1, AF&AM. He was a Shriner and member of Khedive Temple of the Shrine and Scottish Rite Bodies.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Anne Smallwood of Atlanta and Barbara Wade Burke of Birmingham,; sister, Addie Ballou of Hampton; two brothers, Charles Biggs of Hampton and Richard Biggs of Florida; three grandchildren, Steve Burke and Cathy Burke, both of Birmingham, Mark Burke of Montgomery, Ala.; four great-grandchildren, Matthew Burke, Taylor Burke, Morgan Burke and Rachael Burke, all of Birmingham; niece, Mary Lou Schaffer; a nephew, Bobby Ballou, both of Hampton; aunt, Elsie Smith of California; and uncle, James Tilling of Hampton.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Robert A. Edwards. The family will receive friends in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, to be followed by a procession to the cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
