Walter Thurman, 74, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1997, in his home.
A member of Glenrock Church of God and a U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Thurman was retired. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Jewell Brown Thurman.
Surviving are two daughters, Norma Griswold and her husband, Gerald, Val Rahamut and her husband, David, of Ohio; two grandchildren, Richard Griswold and Cynthia Griswold; two brothers, Wilker Thurman and Charles Thurman, both of Tennessee.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Glenrock Church of God, Norfolk, by the Rev. Nathan Towe and the Rev. Paul Eure. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Altmeyer Funeral Home.
