Alonza ``Brother'' Harris Jr., 73, of the 1400 block of Wirt Ave., died Jan. 15, 1997, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
A native of Portsmouth, he was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired forklift operator after 17 years at Norfolk Naval Base. He also was former owner and operator of Harris Shoe Shine Parlor, Portsmouth.
Survivors include his wife, Roselyn Harris; two daughters, Carolyn Vincent and Clarine Cannady, both of Portsmouth; a sister, Mary Peebles of California; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law, Alfield Vincent and James C. Cannady, both of Portsmouth; two nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Corprew Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Samuel Walker. Burial with military honors will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Viewing will begin at noon today in the funeral home.
