John William Alston, 77, of the 300 block of Carawan Lane died Jan. 16, 1997, in Chesapeake General Hospital.
He was born in Powersville, N.C., April 27, 1919, the son of the late Clarence and Claudia Robertson Alston. He was a retired mechanic for Nolde's Bakery. He was a member of Chesapeake First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Alston; three sons, Calvin Alston, Wayne Alston and Wilbur Alston, all of Chesapeake; sister, Nellie Kaikowski of Rocky Mount, N.C.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Chesapeake First Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Hess. Burial will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. A visitation for family and friends will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday in Twiford Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his son, Wilbur and Martha Alston, 1152 Chesslawn Circle, Chesapeake.
