Monroe Franklin Scott of the 5900 block of Poplar Hall Drive, died Jan. 16, 1997, in his residence.
Born in Anderson, S.C., he was a retired mail truck driver for the U.S. Postal Service, based in New London, Conn. After retirement he lived in Norfolk for the remainder of his life. He was a member of the John Wesley Church and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a kind, considerate, loving and giving person.
Left to cherish his fond memories are three sisters, Vivian Carriere, Betty King, Annie Hagans, all of Norfolk; a brother-in-law, Robert Owens; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Bessie Scott and Monroe Scott.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Graves Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Anthony Moses. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 3564 Seay Ave.
