James C. Evans Sr., of the 1400 block of Lois Lane, died Jan. 15, 1997, in a local nursing center.
Born in Edenton, N.C., he was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired construction worker.
Survivors include his wife, Earlene Evans; four daughters, Colette Moses, Bernadette Moses, Cheryl Moses, Karen Gordon, all of Norfolk; three sons, James C. Evans Jr. of Moultrie, Ga., Shelton Moses of Newark, N.J., Lionel Moses of Brownsmills, N.J.; five sisters, Alice Revell, Ann Marie Bembry, Harriet Parks, Della Bonds, Cora Riddick; two brothers, Issac Evans and Roger Evans; a son-in-law, Christopher Gordon; a daughter-in-law, Tamiko Moses; and a host of relatives and friends.
The body will be cremated. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
