JAMES C. EVANS SR.

James C. Evans Sr., of the 1400 block of Lois Lane, died Jan. 15, 1997, in Sentara Nursing Center in Norfolk.

Born in Edenton, N.C., he was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired construction worker.

Survivors include his wife, Earlene Evans; four daughters, Colette Moses, Bernadette Moses, Cheryl Moses, Karen Gordon, all of Newark, N.J.; three sons, James C. Evans Jr. of Moultrie, Ga., Shelton Moses of Newark, N.J., Lionel Moses of Brownsmills, N.J.; five sisters, Alice Revell, Ann Marie Bembry, Harriet Parks, Della Bonds, Cora Riddick; two brothers, Issac Evans and Roger Evans; a son-in-law, Christopher Gordon; a daughter-in-law, Tamiko Moses; 14 grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

The body will be cremated. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
