EDUCATION NEWS

TEACHERS OF THE YEAR:

Patricia Houff, kindergarten teacher at Seatack Elementary School, is the school's Teacher of the Year. She has taught at the school for four years.

Georgeanne Hribar, social studies teacher at Ocean Lakes High School, is the school's Teacher of the Year. She was also recognized as one of 29 teachers named by the National Council for Geographic Education to receive a 1996 Distinguished Teaching Achievement Award.

Marcia Puckett, music teacher at Alanton Elementary School, is the school's Teacher of the Year. She has taught at the school for 10 years.

Peggy Lovell, special education teacher at the Career Development Center, is the school's Teacher of the Year. She has taught at the school for four years.

Ruby Allen, choral director and music theory teacher at Green Run High school, is the school's Teacher of the Year. She has been teaching for 40 years and has been at Green Run since its opening.

Mike Cochran, seventh-grade social studies teacher at Great Neck Middle School, is the school's Teacher of the Year. He has been teaching seven years and coaches the football and wrestling teams at the school.

Clare Gloria, learning disability teacher at Landstown Middle School, is the school's Teacher of the Year. She has taught at the school for three years.

Margaret Kiernan and Norma Hayden are Teachers of the Year at the Adult Learning Center.

REFLECTIONS WINNERS:

First-place winners in the Reflections Contest at King's Grant Elementary School are: literature, Samantha Heptinstall, kindergarten through second grade, Lynna Seipel, third through fifth grade; visual arts, Amy Aughenbaugh, kindergarten through second grade, Danielle Schrenk, third through fifth; photography, Jessica Opfer, kindergarten through second grade, Brooke Akright, third through fifth grade; music, Katie Ontko.

Landstown Elementary School's first-place Reflections Contest winners are: literature, Mark Cruz, kindergarten through second grade, Candace Bryceland, third through fifth grade; visual arts, Lindsay Callahan, kindergarten through second grade, Stephen O'Brien third through fifth grade.

Bayside Elementary School first-place winners in the Reflections Contest are: literature, Emily Green, kindergarten through second grade, Caroline Wilhoit, third through fifth grade; visual arts, Sarah Grover, kindergarten through second grade, Kristin Fox, third through fifth grade.
