Bettie Edwards Worrell, 94, died Jan. 19, 1997, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Worrell, a native of Southampton County, was the daughter of the late Peter B. and Nelia Griffin Edwards. She was the widow of Willie T. Worrell. She was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church and the Mary White Cobb Circle.
She is survived by a daughter, Helen W. Simmons and husband Wallace of Franklin; a granddaughter, Holly S. Estes and husband Bill of Chesapeake; a sister, Lucy E. Blood of Midlothian, Va.; and nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Riverside Cemetery by the Rev. Robert Parks. Memorial donations may be made to Courtland United Methodist Church or the Courtland Rescue Squad. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is in charge of arrangements.
