James Travis Kight Sr., 55, of Highway 158, died in Waterlily, Currituck County, on Saturday, Jan. 18, 1997.
A native of Currituck County, he was retired from Ford Motor Co. and was a charter member of Currituck Hunt Club. Mr. Kight was the husband of Andrea Makinson Kight and son of Charlie Forbes and Margaret Sawyer Kight.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Kim Hines of Currituck; five sons, James Travis Kight Jr. of Coinjock, Charles Lester Kight of Maple, Daryl Keith Kight of Grandy, Larry Chase Pope of Currituck and Julian Wade Kight of Barco; a sister, Diane Tillet of Manteo; two brothers, Julian Kight of Barco and Jerald Kight of Coinjock; 11 grandchildren; and a million friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Hampton Cemetery, Waterlily, with the Rev. C.H. Wellons officiating. The family will be at the residence. Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City, is handling arrangements.
