Carol Burton Forbes, 70, of the 1200 block of Glyndon Drive died Jan. 18, 1997, in his residence.
A retired food broker, he was an Elizabeth City, N.C., native and a member of St. Bride's Episcopal Church, in Chesapeake. He was a member of Tidewater Radio Control Inc. Airplane Club and Seven Springs Golf Course. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Arnold Forbes; two daughters, Lynne Carol Forbes Jonas and her husband, Robert D. Jonas of Virginia Beach, and Nancy Jo Forbes King and her husband, Ralph King of Westlake Village, Calif.; son, Glenn David Forbes and his wife, Jayne B. Forbes of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Walter Saunders Forbes of Norfolk and Harry Lewis Forbes and his wife, Jeanne, of Richmond; three grandchildren, Geoffrey and Savannah King and April Forbes.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by Fr. William C. Hoffman. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, is in charge. The family will be at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Norfolk Urban Outreach Ministry, c/o the Rev. Richard Bridgford, Norfolk Square, Norfolk, Va. 23502 or the Salvation Army or St. Bride's Episcopal Church.
