L.L. ``Red'' Potter, 68, of the 9200 block of Marlow Ave. died Tuesday Jan. 21, 1997, in his home.
A retired chief petty officer in the U.S. Coast Guard and retired owner of Potter Electric, he was a South Creek, N.C., native. Mr. Potter was a member of Ocean View Masonic Lodge No. 335 AF&AM, Fleet Reserve Association Branch No. 60 and VFW Post No. 3160.
Survivors include his wife, Stella Whittaker Potter; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Steve Hoffman of Norfolk; two sisters, Mattie Scahill of Norfolk and Alverta Meiggs of South Mills, N.C.; and grandson, Christopher Hoffman of Norfolk.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by the Rev. John N. Ashenfelder. Burial will be private at a later date. The family will receive friends at the residence from noon to 7 p.m. today and Thursday. The family asks that all flowers be omitted and memorials be made to the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, 601 Children's Way, Norfolk, Va. 23507.
