Benson Swarner of the 2600 block of Villa Circle died Jan. 20, 1997.
A retired security guard, Mr. Swarner was a native of Robersonville, N.C., and a Baptist. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two sisters, Ira Bridgers of Norfolk and Rachel D. Duggins of Norfolk; two nieces, Ethel Jones of Morehead City, N.C., and Lidia Mae Little of Robersonville; two nephews, Jim Spruill of Norfolk and Elder Melvin Bridgers of Virginia Beach.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Hampton National Cemetery, Hampton, by the Rev. Jim Spruill. Family and friends will assemble at 2609 Villa Circle, Norfolk, on Friday at 10 a.m. for a funeral procession to the gravesite. Metropolitan Funeral Home is in charge.
