WRONG NAACP PRACTICE

I was very disappointed to see that the Maryland branch of the NAACP is against Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas attending a job festival in Delaware. Hanley Norment, president of the NAACP's Maryland Conference, believes that Justice Thomas is not a positive role model for children because Mr. Thomas is opposed to affirmative action.

Mr. Norment should realize that this is America and all of us are allowed to have different opinions. Many people in this country are not convinced that affirmative action is a good thing for America. The public forum is where these diverse views are discussed.

The NAACP has long and honorably stood for tolerance. It is a shame that Mr. Norment does not practice what his organization preaches.
