Ruben P. Artis, 58, entered into eternal rest Sunday Jan. 19, 1997, at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Bessie Artis.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Yvonne Ricks-Artis; two sons, Terrence Artis of Largo, Md. Kevin Artis of Richmond; two daughters, Katoshia Artis of Temple Hills, Gwendolyn Young of Courtland, Va.; six brothers, James, Garland, Robert, Ivory, Vance and Curtis Artis; six sisters, Mary Walloe, Shirley Moore, Laven Hicks, Paulette Williams, Lillie Tennessee and Linda Edmonds; five grandchildren; five god children; and a host of other beloved relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in Fort Foote Baptist Church, Fort Washington, Md., by the Rev. Joseph Lyles. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. A second funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Luke United Church of Christ, Sedley, by the Rev. Dr. J.J. Ferguson. Interment will follow in the family cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
