The Rev. Joshua Holloway, of the 1800 block of Hoover Ave., died Jan. 20, 1997, in his home.
Born in Surry County, Va., he was pastor for 29 years of New Foreman Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, Chesapeake, and a member of A.M.E. Zion Ministers Alliance. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Vynell Holloway; a daughter, Michelle Whitfield of Chesapeake; two stepdaughters, Shawan Todd and Sharetta Todd of Chesapeake; a son, Dr. Joshua Holloway of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Lucy Robins of Smithfield, Va.; five brothers, Joseph L. Holloway and Lewis Holloway of Carlton, Va., William Holloway of Chesapeake, the Rev. Charles Holloway of Virginia Beach, McKinley Holloway of Suffolk; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild; son-in-law, Arthur L. Whitfield of Chesapeake; a daughter-in-law, Mary L. Holloway of Washington, D.C.; and many other surviving relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in St. Joseph A.M.E. Zion Church, Westmunden, Chesapeake, by Bishop Milton A. Williams, presiding bishop of the Virginia Annual Conference, 5th Episcopal District, assisted by the Rev. Charles Eason, pastor. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach.
In lieu of flowers, send donations to New Foreman Temple A.M.E. Zion Church Building Fund, Chesapeake. Fitchett Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
