WALTER BRANCH

Walter Branch, 89, of the 7500 block of Merritt St., died Jan. 15, 1997, in Sentara Nursing Home, Virginia Beach.

Born in Princess Anne County, he was a retired engineer helper of the U.S. Naval Air Station. He was a member of Mount Herman Baptist Church, Norfolk.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Branch; a daughter, Lucy M. Evans; 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren; devoted cousins, Eddie Payton, Elizabeth Bauer and Lillian Richardson; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his son, Walter Branch Jr., and parents, Meliza P. Branch and John Branch.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Mount Herman Baptist Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. Steven Lewis. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends and relatives at 206 Harrier St., Virginia Beach, where the family will assemble at noon for the procession to the church. E.A. Hughes Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
