MOVIES: OPENING TONIGHT

IN LOVE AND WAR - The young Ernest Hemingway, wounded in World War I, falls in love with an older woman who is his nurse. Hemingway used the affair, obviously, as the basis of his ``A Farewell to Arms.'' Chris O'Donnell is cast as Hemingway with Sandra Bullock as the nurse. Epic-style battle scenes are included in the Richard Attenborough production. PG-13

FIERCE CREATURES - The cast of ``A Fish Called Wanda'' are reunited in this farce about a British zoo that is taken over by an Atlanta billionaire who wants to increase profits by displaying only dangerous animals. It is not a sequel to ``Wanda.'' The troubled production has been long delayed, including filming a new ending. Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Kline, John Cleese and Michael Palin are directed by Fred Schepisi and Robert Young. PG-13 [MOTHER [The text of this mini-review is not available in the database] [For complete copy, see microfilm]

ZEUS AND ROXANNE - A dog and a dolphin star in this family offering. A couple humans, Kathleen Quinlan and Steve Guttenberg, go along for the ride. PG

SWINGERS - Fellas obsessed with dressing right and presenting the right image are on the prowl to places like the Lava Lounge and the Dresden Room. The comedy about nightlife amongst single guys in L.A. encourages us all to get a nightlife. Directed by Doug Liman and featuring Jon Favreau, who also wrote it as if he's been there.
