Melvinia Lee Corprew, 53, of the 1200 block of Marshall Ave., died Jan. 17, 1997, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
She was a native of Norfolk and a housewife.
Survivors include her husband, Spencer Linwood Corprew Sr.; seven daughters, Melvinia V. Jones, Patricia E. Johnson, Renee S. Corprew, Andelia V. Corprew, all of Norfolk, Laverna L. Corprew, Glendale L. Corprew, Penny J. Corprew, all of Portsmouth; three sons, Bruce E. Corprew, Spencer L. Corprew Jr., both of Norfolk, Frank Blackmore of Portsmouth; a brother, Danny Hopkins of Norfolk; 14 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Garden of Prayer C.O.G.I.C. Number 4, 1401 Marshall Ave., Portsmouth, by Elder C. Hicks. Burial will be in Jones Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. Family and friends will assemble at 1238 Marshall Ave., Portsmouth, at 10 a.m. Saturday for the procession to the church. Metropolitan Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
