Earle W.F. Ashby, 101, of the 2100 block of Burnside Place, died Jan. 21, 1997.
Born in Norfolk, she was a member of New Central Baptist Church, Norfolk, and a past member of Concord Baptist Church for 32 years in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Tents Lodge 4, Brooklyn. She was predeceased by her husband, Johnnie Ashby, and a son, Lawrence Fields.
Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn Williams of Chesapeake; a son-in-law, Nathaniel Williams Sr.; grandchildren, Nathaniel Williams Jr., Sylvia Butler and William Butler, all of Chesapeake, Catherine Williams of Delaware; three great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and a host of great-great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in New Central Baptist Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. Missick. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
