Vivian Rollins Artis, 46, of the 400 block of Nicholson St., died Jan. 20, 1997, in DePaul Medical Center Hospital.
Born in Southampton County, Capron, Va., she was a tax preparer for Jackson-Hewitt and was a member, evangelist and church announcer for Prayer and Deliverance Center, Norfolk. An ordained minister, she graduated from Kees Business School, the Jackson-Hewitt tax course, and Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1969.
Survivors include three daughters, Naya Artis, Tiffany Artis, Celeste Artis all of Norfolk; mother, Ruth V. Holmes, and father, Clarence L. Rollins; a sister, Dorothy Graves of Norfolk; three brothers, Willie L. Rollins of Capron, Linwood Rollins of Virginia Beach, Dalious R. Rollins of Norfolk; one grandson, Marquis Artis; granddaughter, Rayjine Artis; godmother, Margaret McElroy; ex-husband, Lawrence Artis; five aunts, seven uncles, 17 nieces and nephews, 20 great-nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Garden of Prayer Worship Center, Norfolk, by Bishop John T. Reid. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 N. Witchduck Road. The family and friends will assemble at 709 W. 26th St., Norfolk, at 11 a.m. for the procession to the church Saturday. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements. ILLUSTRATION: Personal photo
