Edna Hux Rook, 81, died Jan. 23, 1997.
Born in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Bernard J. and Mary King Hux and the widow of the late Curtis Carl Rook. She retired from Janet's Hairstyling and Gifts as a beautician and was a member of High Street United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann R. Williams of Franklin; two sons, Bernard Rook, and his wife, Brenda, of Courtland, Curtis C. Rook Jr., and his wife, JoAnn, of Yorktown; six grandchildren, Steve Williams, Terri Roberts, Melody Scott, Bernard Rook Jr., David W. Rook, John C. Rook; six great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wright Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Dr. Gary Powell. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home. The family suggests that memorial donations may be made to Courtland Baptist Church.
