I would like to commend The Virginian-Pilot for two recent articles, the first documenting the efforts of a local postal worker and her family in helping a woman in need, and the second about the outpouring of help and concern toward a 13-year-old boy who had his bike stolen after working to earn the money to pay for it.
These stories, in contrast to the daily tragedy we so often read about, go a long way toward showing there is hope in an all-too-often dark world, and that there are good people among us with warm hearts and compassionate attitudes who unselfishly perform caring acts of love toward others.
These articles are just examples of events that happen each and every day throughout Hampton Roads. I would like to encourage The Pilot to increase the number of positive human-interest stories, possibly even recognizing a Hampton Roads Good Samaritan of the Week. Promotion and recognition of these acts of good can only encourage others to do likewise.
