MARK A. MCGAVRAN

Mark Allan McGavran, 42, of the 1800 block of Manning Road, died Jan. 23, 1997, in Portsmouth.

A marine insulator, Mr. McGavran was a Norfolk native and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy J. McGavran; two sons, Mark A. McGavran Jr. and James M. McGavran, both of Portsmouth; mother, Shirley Smith Williams of Suffolk; three sisters, Debra L. Smith and Laura J. Smith, both of Portsmouth, and Vicki S. Marshall of Chesapeake; two brothers, Bruce Wayne McGavran of Fayetteville, N.C., and Roger Jeffrey Williams of Newport, N.C.

A funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday in Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Chapel, by the Rev. Allen L. Dooley. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends in the residence, 4610 South St., Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Portsmouth Community Services Board, Substance Abuse, 500 Crawford Parkway, Suite 400, Portsmouth, Va. 23704.
