Annie Lucille Starks, 75, of the 7700 block of Armfield Ave. died Jan. 21, 1997, in DePaul Medical Center.
A laundry presser retired from Adleman's Laundry, Milwaukee, Wisc., with 25 years service, she was a native of Sardis, Miss., and the widow of Eugene Starks. She was a member of First Baptist Church Logan Park, Norfolk. She was a member of Female Usher Board No. 1.
She was the daughter of the late Mary M. Jones and the late Bennie Jones. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mattie Watkins, Maggie R. Button, Lula Blanks, Jannie Campbell; and brother, Robert Jones Sr. Survivors include her sister, Thelma Ward of Pine Bluff, Ark.; nieces and nephews, Lillie B. Caples of Norfolk, Demetria Jones of Pine Bluff, Willie Nell Balir of St. Louis, Rosetta Moss of St. Louis, Lucille Washington, Robert L. Ward, both of Hughes, Ark., Minister Melvin Ward of Alabama, the Rev. Billie J. Ward of Helena, Ark., and Jeff Ward of Knoxville; several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews and a very special family and friend, Columbus C. Hollins.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church Logan Park by the Rev. Kevin L. Clay. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. The body will be placed in the church at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Family and friends will assemble at 1262 Rosefield Court, Norfolk, at 10 a.m. Tuesday for the procession to the church.
