JAMES E. WALDEN

James Earl Walden, 49, of the 900 block of County St., died Jan. 23, 1997, in Portsmouth General Hospital.

A Portsmouth native, Mr. Walden is survived by two daughters, Veronica Walden of Virginia Beach and Jeanette Mills of Portsmouth; son, James Earl Walden Jr. of Virginia Beach; five sisters, Retha Sellers of Chesapeake, Annette Jenkins of Chesapeake, Diane Jenkins of Portsmouth, Christine Brown of Portsmouth and Doris Virgis of Trenton, N.J.; two brothers, Fletcher Walden and Michael Jenkins of Portsmouth; close friends, Katie Coppedge Walden and Roselyn Jackson Walden; six grandchildren; a special and devoted friend, Gail Gunn; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary Eley Walden and John H. Walden Sr.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday in Serenity Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. T.M. Steele. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing will begin at noon today and continue until 8 p.m. Family and friends will assemble at 3932 Starboard Road, Chesapeake, at 11:15 a.m. for the processional to the funeral home.
