Willie Phillips ``Bill'' Simons, 86, of the 300 block of Delaney Drive, died Jan. 25, 1997.
A native of Nansemond County, he was a son of the late William J. and Lottie Phillips Simons. Mr. Simons was a former member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 685 and the Progressive Men's Club. He was the retired owner and operator of Simons' Garage.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret B. Simons; two daughters, Margaret ``Billie'' Harry and Virginia ``Gin'' Staylor, both of Suffolk; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Western Branch Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Michael D. Halley and the Rev. David M. Jendrey. The family will receive friends at the residence Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, Va. 23439 or Western Branch Baptist Church, 6952 Old Myrtle Road, Suffolk, Va. 23434. R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home is in charge.
