Authors Trinkett and H. Nichols B. Janet Bing, a professor of linguistics and women's studies at Old Dominion University, has co-edited and contributed to the recently published Rethinking Language and Gender Research: Theory and Practice (Addison Wesley Longman).
The book is a collection of essays that examine the relationship between language and gender. Topics include sex and the brain; teen-age language; radio talk show exchanges; and discourse strategies of African-American women. Bing, who lives in Norfolk, also serves as associate editor for the journal Women and Language.
