Muriel Machin Martin, 73, died Monday Jan. 27, 1997, in DePaul Hospital.
Mr. Martin was born Oct. 19, 1923, in Baltimore, Md. A retired U.S. Navy chief petty officer having served in World War II, he was a former employee of Oceana Naval Air Station with 20 years of service.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Betty; three children, Jackie Marquis, June Barry-Munden, Gary Martin; 11 grandchildren, Branson, Sam, Samantha, Zoe, Nathan, Vanessa, Justin, Sara, Hanna, Katie and Skylar; two great-grandchildren, Justin and Cidney; a sister, Pauline Reynolds of Timonium, Md.; and a brother, William Warren Martin of Florida.
A memorial service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5080 Greenwood Drive, Norfolk at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at sea. Altmeyer Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to the Brain Injury Association, 3212 Cutshaw Ave., Suite 315, Richmond, Va. 23220.
