Sandra C. Gillis, 59, died Jan. 28, 1997, after a brief illness.
She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Gillis; her mother, Leah C. Searle of Powhatan; a son and his wife, the Rev. Dale E. and Lorie Gillis of Chesapeake; a daughter and her husband, Susan G. and Mark Walker of Chester Springs, Pa.; a brother and his wife, Benjamin E. and Jane Carpenter of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren, Ryan and Allyson Gillis, Kyle and Logan Walker; a niece and nephew.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Bon Air United Methodist Church, Richmond, by the Rev. Gary Alvis and Dr. Franklin Gillis. The family will receive friends at the church after the service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Powhatan United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Powhatan, Va. 23139.
