Gloria Murrelle Whesdos, 70, of the 1300 block of E. Bayshore Drive passed away Jan. 27, 1997, in her home.
Born in Danville, Va., she was a loving mother, a cheerful volunteer and an inspiration to all who met her. She joins her husband, Paul L. Whesdos Jr., and son, Terry Whesdos.
Gloria was an active member of the Virginia Beach United Methodist Church for 50 years and served in its service guild. She was a past president of the auxiliary for both the Virginia Electronics Association and the Tidewater VEA.
She is survived by her daughter, Joanne W. White; grandson, Joseph T. White, both of Virginia Beach; son, William A. Whesdos of Annapolis, Md.; brother-in-law, John W. Whesdos of Las Vegas; and many dear friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Virginia Beach United Methodist Church, 19th and Pacific Ave., by the Rev. David Ford and Dr. Paul Bailey. The family will receive friends at a reception in the church social hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the UCI-Cancer Center, Ovarian Cancer Research (in Memory of Gloria Whesdos), c/o Sally Trainotti, Irvine Hall, Irvine, Calif. 92697, or to the church.
