Four teen-agers were arrested at a high school Tuesday afternoon after a police officer assigned to the school spotted them with a shotgun, police said. It was not loaded.
The students, who attend Green Run High School, were arrested at Tallwood High about 2 p.m. as Tallwood students were leaving school for the day, police said.
The four Green Run Students pulled into the parking lot at Tallwood and got out of a Toyota Corolla with the gun, police said.
Police said the gun was a 20-gauge shotgun. Police did not know Tuesday afternoon who owned the gun. Officer Ike Cashwell and 4th Precinct officer Daryl Plude arrested the students.
Police said the names of the students - two 15-year-old freshmen, one 16-year-old sophomore and a 17-year-old junior - would be withheld because they are juveniles.
All four students were charged with possession of a firearm on school property. They were being held at the Tidewater Detention Home without bond and will appear in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court today.
All four have been suspended from Green Run and will be recommended for expulsion.
