SUFFOLK - Antoine Willie finished with a game-high 36 points and 14 rebounds as Nansemond River, ranked No. 7 in South Hampton Roads, responded to every Lakeland run in avenging an earlier 66-58 loss.
The Cavaliers went on a 13-0 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 47-42 with 1:57 left. But the Warriors responded with a 9-0 run and led by at least 10 the rest of the way.
``We got control back with our defense and got the offense back up,'' said Willie, the area's leading scorer at 28.5 points per game.
Nansemond River took a 15-point lead into the locker room after outscoring Lakeland 22-8 in the second quarter.
Damon Tillery, Lakeland's leading scorer, was charged with his third foul with 7:10 left in the second quarter and sat the remainder of the half. He finished with 15 points, but eight of those came late.

In other games: Cox 51, Princess Anne 46: The second-ranked Falcons scored all seven of their overtime points on free throws. Princess Anne heated up from the 3-point line in the second quarter, fueling a comeback and keeping the Cavaliers in the game.
Kempsville 89, Kellam 43: McKinley Ford scored 14 points and Trey Simkins added 10 as the No. 8 Chiefs outscored the Knights 32-11 in the second quarter. Ford finished with 22 points and Simkins had 20. Fred Valentine scored 14 for Kellam.
Western Branch 66, Oscar Smith 62: Nathan Chappell and David Fanning combined for 22 of Western Branch's 26 points in the third quarter. Fanning scored 12 and Chappell added 10 in the quarter for the Bruins, who held on down the stretch by hitting free throws.
Ocean Lakes 56, Bayside 52: Nehemiah Olds scored 10 points and Lorenzo Gales and Walt Amos had nine each as the No. 9 Dolphins edged the Marlins. Malachi Hernandez led Bayside with a game-high 14 points.
Salem 47, Green Run 41: Devon Horton hit the go-ahead basket and Rashad Smith added to free throws as the the Sun Devils jumped out to a 42-38 lead in the first 30 seconds of overtime. James Oaks had eight of his 14 points in the fourth quarter as the Stallions forced the extra period.
Tallwood 74, First Colonial 69: Terrell Taylor had 28 points and 15 rebounds and Charles Swift added 22 points as the Lions overcame a 26-12 first-quarter deficit. Josh Withers had 33 points and seven rebounds for the Patriots, who committed 20 turnovers.
Cape Henry 70, Catholic 66: Frankie Cabrera had nine points and hit 7 of 11 free throws in the fourth quarter as the Dolphins held off the Crusaders, going 13 of 20 from the line in final period. Cabrera led all scorers with 28 points.
Norfolk Christian 62, Walsingham 35: Walsingham's Jesse Wilburn, who had 24 points midway through the third quarter, was held scoreless after that as the Ambassadors went to a diamond-and-one with reserve Greg Ash guarding Wilburn. Norfolk Christian, which led by five when the defensive switch was made, turned it into a romp behind Patrick Chapman's 16 points.
Nansemond-Suffolk 58, Greenbrier Christian 55: Warren Carroll scored 25 points for the visiting Saints. Tyson Bush had 21 points for the Gators who cut a 12-point deficit to three in the fourth quarter.
Peninsula Catholic 55, Norfolk Collegiate 46: After ending the third quarter tied, the Oaks were shut out in the fourth quarter as Peninsula Catholic went to a four corners offense late. Antoine Sinclair scored 20 for Peninsula Catholic. Ryan Welsh scored 30 of Norfolk Collegiate's 46 points.
Atlantic Shores 81, B.E.A.C.H. 69: David Corprew finished with 18 points, 11 assists and eight steals to lead four Seahawks in double figures in scoring. Eric Johnson added 14 points, Channing Robertson 13, including 11 rebounds, and Phil McFarland had 12.
Alliance Christian 76, HRA 71: Damien Byrd rallied Alliance Christian from a 10-point defecit in the fourth quarter, scoring 10 of his 21 points in the final period. James Smith scored 19 points to go with five blocks and Tremayne Boone also had 19 points.
