I am writing as a concerned citizen. I live at the corner of North Shore Road and Hampton Boulevard and I witness a lot of accidents at this intersection. I have also had to call 911 for help due to this bad intersection. I think either a light should be put up or some type of warning.
Someone from the city Traffic Department needs to study this very serious problem. I fear for my life just walking across at this corner because the traffic speeds down Hampton Boulevard, and I am sure many of your readers agree with me.
So how about it, Traffic Control? Get off your duff and do something about this very serious problem.

Hampton Boulevard Children get 700 books
We at Turn The Page would like to personally thank the corporate sponsors and the many individual sponsors who participated in our Literacy Tree Program this holiday season.
As a result of the generous donations from the Hampton Roads community this year, the Literacy Tree has made available nearly 700 books for approximately 500 children who do not possess books in their homes.
Names were provided to Turn The Page from community schools, day care centers, domestic violence and homeless centers. These schools and services included Ingleside Elementary School, Ghent Elementary School, Azalea Garden Middle School, Candii House, Haven Family Center, YMCA Childcare, Hunton YMCA Daycare and the Dwelling Place.
It is the belief of Turn The Page and these organizations that today's children will be unable to meet the challenges of the future unless they learn to read at an early age. To this end, the original Literacy Tree Program was begun by a bookseller by the name of Mary Gay Shipley from Blytheville, Ark. Turn The Page has administered this project in the Hampton Roads area for three years. Since then more than 2000 books have been distributed to individual children.
Thanks again to all of the Hampton Roads citizens and organizations (Nautical Adventures, Brody-Kantor Company, S.E. Streater D.V.S. and Brisbin's Engineering Service) who have made many a young person, most of whom received their first book, very happy.

Colley Avenue Thanks to news media
Having been raised in Ocean View, and still a resident, I want to thank the news media for their informative coverage on various happenings.
Ocean View is a large section of Norfolk; therefore, it is especially appreciated when they specify the particular area that is being reported on.
Thank you and continue the good work.
