Dare County Sheriff A.L. ``Bert'' Austin reported Wednesday that officers are investigating the following incidents:
A resident of Scarborough Square mobile home park located on Etheridge Road near Manteo reported Tuesday morning that someone had slashed three tires on his vehicle and put sugar in his gas tank resulting in approximately $500 damage.
A larceny of a ring was reported Tuesday evening from a residence on Sir Walter Raleigh Street near Manteo. Officers investigating the case arrested Manteo resident Charlie Selby Jr., 19, and charged him with misdemeanor larceny. Selby was released on a $300 unsecured bond and is scheduled for trial in Dare County District Court on Feb. 7.
A larceny of a checkbook was reported by an employee of the Fessenden Center in Buxton on Monday. Someone removed a checkbook from the employee's purse which was in her office while she was working.
Officers are investigating the larceny of an air compressor from the area of Midway Intersection on Roanoke Island Tuesday afternoon. A resident of Manteo reported that a Craftsman 3 horsepower air compressor fell out of the back of his truck near the intersection. When he realized it had fallen out, he went back to retrieve it. But before he could get back to where he had lost it, someone had picked it up. A witness told the owner of the compressor that two men operating a gray and burgundy sport utility vehicle had picked the air compressor up and drove off in the direction of Wanchese.
Austin requests that if anyone has any information about any of these incidents to please call the Sheriff's Office at 473-3481.
