Housing improvements and home ownership help will continue at Elizabeth City State University because of a $300,000 grant announced this week by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
In 1995, the university received a $475,000 HUD grant that will be used on housing rehabilitation work in the Oak Grove community on Pear Tree Road.
No area has yet been designated to be improved by the $300,000 grant received this month, said Morris Autry, director of the ECSU community development program.
ECSU is one of the universities that receive HUD rehabilitation grants because students are already enrolled in community development programs. HUD loans allow these students to participate in hands-on work.
