The Town of Nags Head will dedicate its new computer radar display trailer in ceremonies at 2 p.m. today at the Nags Head Causeway Estuarine Access.
The new equipment, made possible through the Governor's Highway Safety Program, will be deployed on major streets and highways in Nags Head. The device will make motorists aware of their actual travel speed compared to the posted speed limits in certain areas of the town.
The equipment also will be made available to the Dare County Sheriff's Office and other municipal police agencies within the county.
The trailer cost just over $16,500. About $12,492 of the tab was picked up by the state.
