WEEKEND

Fiddler on the Roof

Once again, Tevye, the dairyman, is back with a big cast and a big production in the perennial favorite ``Fiddler on the Roof.'' David Springstead has the role, with Pamela Denning as his ever-faithful wife. Produced by Commonwealth Musical Stage, which is now in its fifth season, it is at home at Virginia Beach Pavilion tonight, Saturday and Sunday. All the songs are there - ``To Life,'' ``Sunrise, Sunset,'' ``Far from the Home I Love'' and ``Tradition,'' with the pit orchestra conducted by Kevin Wallace. Call 340-5446 for information.

- Mal Vincent TONIGHT Julius Caesar

WITH TONIGHT'S opening of ``Julius Caesar,'' Virginia Opera goes where it's never gone before - to the Baroque period. Handel's opera has been around 273 years, but it'll be a new experience for many regulars. David Sabella, on leave from the Broadway revival of ``Chicago,'' is Caesar. Sujung Kim, who starred in this season's ``Lucia di Lammermoor,'' sings Cleopatra. 8 tonight and next Friday; 2:30 p.m. Sunday and Feb. 9; 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Harrison Opera House, 160 Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. $19 to $72; order at 623-1223.

- Craig Shapiro WAYLON JENNINGS WEDNESDAY

GOD BLESS Waylon Jennings. While country music crowns new kings and queens each week, the original outlaw remains as uncompromising as ever. That bodes well for his concert Wednesday at Hampton Coliseum. Joining him is his wife, Jessi Colter. 7:30 p.m. Tix: $15, plus service charge. Order at 671-8100. Info at 838-4203.
