George Washington Comer, 93, of Poplar Neck Road died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 1997, in Guardian Care Nursing Home, Ahoskie.
Mr. Comer was a retired conductor for Norfolk Southern Railroad and a member of Yeopim Baptist Church, Unanimity Lodge No. 7, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Sudan Temple of New Bern, N.C., Red Men and Eastern Star. He was the son of the late William Littleton and Cora Tribble Comer and the husband of Mrs. Ruth Burns Comer of Edenton.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Reba Comer Collins of Moyock, Phyllis Comer Miller of Virginia Beach, Janis Comer Jordan of Aulander; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Evans Funeral Home by the Rev. Joseph Scalf. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. The family received friends Thursday in the funeral home.
