Minnie Spivey Rhodes, 86, of the 2100 block of Wilroy Road went to be with the Lord Jan. 30, 1997. She died in Autumn Care Nursing Center.
A native of Isle of Wight County, she was a homemaker and the widow of Edward Curtis Rhodes. She was a member of Colosse Baptist Church and attended Magnolia United Methodist Church for 22 years where she was a member of Wesley Bible Class. She was the daughter of the late Jethro David Spivey and Margaret Bland Spivey.
Survivors include her daughter, Virginia Mae Rhodes Byrum of Suffolk; sons, James Edward Rhodes and Walter Richard Rhodes, both of Hopewell, Robert Earl Rhodes of Franklin, William Lewis Rhodes of Suffolk and Shirley R. Rhodes of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; sister-in-law, Elizabeth H. Spivey of Suffolk; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Clyde D. Nuckols Sr. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today and at other times at either 1694 Faulk Road or 2123 Wilroy Road. Hill Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
