I think that it is a great idea to bring the NHL to Hampton Roads. As a native to this area, I find that people here are scared of change. This venture would bring in so much money for this area, and put us on the map.
I don't understand why the Admirals and their fans are so worried. Who says that we can't have both? I like and support the Admirals, but they are not the NHL. There is a difference, that only a true hockey fan would know, between the ECHL and the NHL. The Admirals would actually benefit from having the Big Boys here. They could practice together and give the ECHL tips and advice.
I must agree, however, that everyone should not be taxed for this event. Let us die-hard hockey fans support them. Why not add a special tax on all tickets and even on Rhino merchandise? I wouldn't mind paying a little more to support the team, but it is not fair to tax those who are not interested.
