Minnie Spivey Rhodes, 86, of the 2100 block of Wilroy Road went to be with the Lord Jan. 30, 1997. She died in Autumn Care Nursing Center.
A native of Isle of Wight County, she was a homemaker and the widow of Edward Curtis Rhodes. She was a member of Colosse Baptist Church and attended Magnolia United Methodist Church for 22 years where she was a member of Wesley Bible Class. She was the daughter of the late Jethro David Spivey and Margaret Bland Spivey.
Survivors include her daughter, Virginia Mae Rhodes Byrum of Suffolk; sons, James Edward Rhodes and Walter Richard Rhodes, both of Hopewell, Robert Earl Rhodes of Franklin, William Lewis Rhodes of Suffolk and Shirley R. Rhodes of Weldon, N.C.; sister-in-law, Elizabeth H. Spivey of Suffolk; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Hill Funeral Home. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Clyde D. Nuckols Sr. The family will greet friends at either 1694 Faulk Road or 2123 Wilroy Road.
