FRANCES G. MCGAHEE

Frances Goodrich McGahee, 77, of the 300 block of Pond Drive, passed away Friday afternoon Jan. 31, 1997, at her home.

Born in Dendron, Surry County, she had resided in Suffolk for about 60 years. She was the daughter of the late George W. Goodrich and Cornelia Whitemore Goodrich of Dendron, and was the wife of James T. Davidson until his death in 1977. She had retired after working as a sales clerk for many years in several stores in Suffolk in ladies apparel, and was an active member of First Baptist Church, N. Main Street.

Survivors include her husband, Jack T. McGahee; three sons, the Rev. Tommy Davidson of Newport News, the Rev. Don Davidson of Danville and George Davidson of Suffolk; two stepchildren, Michael T. McGahee of Suffolk and Carolyn Oliver of Chester, Va.; three grandsons, four step-grandchildren, a step-great-grandchild; and many friends.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church, Suffolk, by the Revs. Tommy and Don Davidson and the Rev. Charles Thompson. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday in Hill Funeral Home, Suffolk, and at other times at the residence.
