George Richard Cole II, 48, of the 100 block of Brentwood Court, died Jan. 29, 1997, in Sentara Norfolk Hospital after a long illness.
He retired seven years ago with 30 years service for the U.S. Navy. Born in Eaton Rapids, Mich., he was a member of Bow Creek Presbyterian Church, Virginia Beach, participating in the Pipe Organ Fund and as an elder.
Survivors include his wife, Cora M. Cole; a daughter, Angela M. Carswell; a son, Greg M. Cole; mother, Dorothy Matz of Michigan; a sister, Zola Sipes; grandchild, Matthew T. Carswell; son-in-law, John T. Carswell Jr.; mother-in-law, Cora Mosher; and a sister-in-law, Judy Schildwaster.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Bow Creek Presbyterian Church, Virginia Beach, by Kim Sydnor. Burial will be at sea. No flowers please. Any donations may be made to the Bow Creek Presbyterian Pipe Organ Fund.
